Tis' the Season...

So, Sept is finally coming to a close and I cannot wait for the holiday season. I'm not sure why I'm so anxious for it this year, but it's all that's been on my mind this week. I can't wait to open my windows and turn off my a/c. I can't wait to carve a pumpkin and bake some pumpkin seeds. I can't wait for the first day that I can walk outside and see my breath (at least for that first hour or two in the morning). I can't wait to buy a christmas tree and smell that amazing christmas tree smell. I can't wait to wear a sweater and to get ready for thanksgiving dinner. I love seeing the christmas decorations and lights on all the houses and buildings. I love putting on a sweatshirt and sitting in the cold sand on the beach. I can't can't wait!

When folk singers become terrorists, the world must be coming to an end

What the hell? That's all i can say.

Aren't we the cutest little prom couple you've ever seen?!

So, I haven't posted in awhile - just not a lot going on. Just work work and more work. Actually, tj and i have decided to be an entirely exclusive couple, meaning we will not be interacting with the likes of any of you from this point forward. Alright, alright, so I'm just trying to make up excuses for the sad fact that no one wants to hang out with us anymore. What a sad story.

Of course you all know this post is a big crock. I love you all. The dapper picture above is from a firefighter recoginition (chza-chza) dinner that we attended. Isn't my buddy handsome? .This past weekend we hopped up to Orlando for surf expo - which really was great fun for me. Those events are like coming home when all the quik/roxy people are out from california. Really good to see all of them. We (tj & i) really weren't into the whole expo party scene this year, and opted for quiet dinners and tv. We hopped over to City Walk at Universal Studios one night and had dinner at Margaritaville - super good. Probably the best meal I had there.

Sunday we jumped over to Melbourne to spend some time with our good friends the Kozack's. We just continued the eating binge with some amazing!! Mexican food that (and I don't say this lightly) put Baja to shame. Miss K just found out that she's pregnant - with TWINS - so while the boys went for a surf, Shannan and I stared at her belly, looked at sonograms, and looked up baby names, all while watching hours of dating, wedding and baby stories on TLC. She definitely has the "glow" that they talk about. I'm so excited for her, I can't stand it!

I've been assistant coaching the girl's varsity volleyball team at my alma mater with my best friend from high school, and that's been an adventure to say the least. We are 0-3 right now, and I don't really expect it to change much. I'll put it this way, 2/3 of our varsity team is made up of freshmen and all but 3 of them have never really played before. So, we're calling this a "rebuilding year".

Anyway, belated birthday to good buddy aaron. Happy 24th. He and Deb have the cutest, fluffiest, puffy puff of a cat i've ever seen. Everyone should run up there to visit him - and bring them a housewarming gift while you're at it!

The Killers are playing this Friday - hoping to see some of you there!

My power was out, but I'm still up

So, 4 movies, 15 cookies or so, and hours of pointless news later, I'm finally back at my house with electricity. I weathered good friend Frances at my parents house in Boca, where I took the above picture. Mary and I finally got out of the house Sunday and tried to take a walk to "document destruction" (duhn, duhn, duhn), but were thwarted by yet more rain. I ended up only getting 2 pictures.

My parent's neighborhood was pretty thrashed. Huge trees down everywhere, fences and screen enclosures trashed. A lot of people had pretty bad roof damage, but that's really about it. I lost power at my place, and some food along with it. The worst thing, actually, was that my warped, piece of crap front and back doors (thanks condo association for assessing that they did not need to be replaced) took on so much water that they swelled shut. I literally could not get my door open. There's nothing quite like standing infront of your own house, with the doors unlocked, and still not being able to get inside.

Anyway, things could have definitely been worse - I think we all can say that. So, now Ivan . . .

I'm all hunkered up...

My windows are taped and boarded - I've got extra water - I'm waiting. Frances, bring it on.

This pretty much sums up how I feel...

Yesterday on CBS, Pat Buchanan (touted as an off-beat ultra-conservative, ran in the Reform Party for President in 2000) was being interviewed at the GOP convention. He was asked if he was voting for Bush, to which he replied that he didn't know. The interviewer exclaimed "You don't know?!". Buchanan put it this way, "I suppose if I had to vote for either Bush or Kerry to vote in Supreme Court Justices for the next 4 years, I would vote for Bush; but, if I had to vote for one of them for the presidency, I just don't know."

That is the first thing I've heard someone say regarding this election that I completely agree with.

I know I should be incredibly concerned and shaking in my boots over the mega-giganto-humungo- hurricane that is barrelling towards my tiny little built in the 60's condo only a mile off of the beach and all scheduled to put the smack down this very friday night/saturday morning at 2 am...but is it terrible that all I can think about is "oh my god, will Snow Patrol be cancelled Friday night? oh horrors of horrors - it can't be!!!!"
